Interfaith
Hospitality Network of Greater Gainesville is an exceedingly cost-effective
program. Local congregations provide accommodations for the guest
families, prepare meals, and staff the shelter. As a result, our
budget is less than half of what it would be if we had to pay for
shelter space, meals, and staffing. However, we still have operating
costs and staff expenses that must be met.
Together our Shelter and Transitional Housing Programs cost approximately
$220,000 to operate. With these funds we are able to provide 3500+
nights of Shelter and 3700+ nights of Transitional Housing in a
given year. Additional services provided include comprehensive case
management, education and skills training (e.g., life skills, parenting,
and financial management classes), counseling, transportation, and
so on.
IHN of Greater Gainesville is supported by donations from individuals,
churches, congregational judiciaries, businesses and corporations,
clubs and organizations, public and private agencies, and by fund-raising
events such as our Annual Golf/Walk Event. Your gift helps
to provide immediate shelter for homeless families with children
and helps to get them back on their feet, into housing of their
own. And your donation is tax deductible.
